We are thrilled to share that our upcoming De la Torre Brothers’ exhibition titled “Melee a la Mode,” will be opening Thursday September 24th. This exhibition comes after their Spring 2026 artist in residency at Palomar and will showcase much of the work they made on campus.

Einar and Jamex de la Torre pull from their experiences as immigrants, contradicting bicultural identities, and their life as artists who are tied to both sides of the U.S. Mexico border through their art practice and community. The complexities of the immigrant experience and contradicting bicultural identities, as well as their current life and practice on both sides of the border, inform their narrative and aesthetics. “Their signature style features mixed media work with blown glass sculpture and installation art.  Their pieces represent a multifaceted view of life that reflects a complex and humorous aesthetic that could be seen as multi-layered baroque. Their approach is additive, constantly combining material and meaning. Influences range from religious iconography to German expressionism while also paying homage to Mexican vernacular arts and pre-Columbian art” (Castro).
