Join us every Thursday at the Howard Brubeck Theatre on the San Marcos Campus for a FREE LIVE Concert Hour Performance at the Howard Brubeck Theatre on the Palomar College Campus, San Marcos. Palomar Performing Arts is excited to open its doors to our students, staff and community members for our Free Concert Hour Series in person every Thursday at 1pm LIVE on the Howard Brubeck Theatre Stage.

Concert Hour is a FREE music enrichment series presented for our students and the community by the Palomar College Performing Arts Department.

Parking is Free in lots 1 & 15 during Concert Hour.

Peter Sprague, a remarkable musician and guitarist, has earned admiration for his exceptional skills and musicality. Renowned jazz artist Pat Metheny describes Peter as an amazing and masterful musician, emphasizing his outstanding touch on both electric and acoustic guitar. Metheny commends Peter’s precision and discipline, highlighting the apparent ease with which Peter executes complex guitar techniques, making him one of the finest guitarists.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 11, 1955, Peter Sprague’s musical journey began at the age of twelve, inspired by his father’s passion for jazz. With a strong dedication to music, he took private lessons, played in high school bands, and formed his first group, The Minor Jazz Quartet. After studying at the Interlochen Arts Academy, Peter moved to Boston in 1976, where he studied with notable musicians, including Pat Metheny. Returning to San Diego in 1978, he formed the groundbreaking jazz ensemble, The Dance of the Universe Orchestra. Throughout his career, Peter recorded albums, collaborated with renowned artists, taught at various institutions, and contributed to projects with legendary labels like GRP Records, leaving an indelible mark on the world of jazz and guitar.
