MANIFEST DESTINITIS

Studio Theatre 1140 West Mission Road, San Marcos, CA, United States

Siguenza reinvents this classic with satirical genius worthy of Moliere. Don Aragon is a Spanish landowner in Alta California on the eve of the U.S. annexation. He rules over his family with the will of a conquistador, but sadly, Don Aragon suffers great anxiety over the immanent U.S. invasion. When his unscrupulous doctor dubs the illness ‘Manifest Destinitis’, Don Aragon’s paranoid antics upset his grip on a rebellious household. With an outrageous satirical mixture of medicine and history, Siguenza’s prescription of laughter and lessons might do wonders for what ails us.

CRAZY FOR YOU

Howard Brubeck Theatre Howard Brubeck Theatre, 1140 West Mission Road, San Marcos, CA, United States

A zany rich-boy-meets-hometown-girl romantic comedy, Crazy For You tells the
story of young New York banker Bobby Child, who is sent to Deadrock, Nevada,
to foreclose on a rundown theatre. In Deadrock, Bobby falls for spunky Polly Baker,
the theatre owner’s daughter. But Polly takes an instant dislike to the city slicker,
so Bobby vows – through cunning, razzmatazz, and a hilarious case of mistaken
identity – to win Polly’s heart and save the theatre. Memorable Gershwin tunes
from the score include “I Got Rhythm,” “Naughty Baby,” “They Can’t Take That Away
from Me,” “Embraceable You,” “But Not for Me,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It” and
“Someone to Watch Over Me. Adapted from the Gershwins’ 1930 musical Girl
Crazy, Crazy For You opened on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on February 19,
1992, starring Harry Groener and Jodi Benson. The show ran for four years, playing
for 1,622 performances.

2024 SD Master Chorale HS Honor Choir – Directed by John Russell

The Palomar Chamber Singers will join members of the San Diego Master Chorale and selected singers from San Diego area high schools in the seventh annual high school honor choir. The Chamber Singers will serve in a leadership role during the morning session of the honor choir rehearsals and perform with the combined choruses for the afternoon concert. The SD Master Chorale HS Honor Choir exists to allow high school singers to attend this one-day festival and to serve as ambassadors of their experience at their schools in the following days and weeks. The ultimate goal is a greater understanding of ensemble singing and choral music artistry they can share with their classmates.
