Palomar College, a place where students come to get an education to further succeed in life. You would not expect that students of Palomar College would want to achieve an education by looking at pmar_snapsss.
Pmar_snapsss is a student-run, Snapchat account, where anyone can submit their photos and then the owners of pmar_snapsss can post it on their story.
A glimpse at the Snapchat account portrays Palomar students enjoying the party life with the majority of people in the 20s age range. Pictures of people smoking and drinking are constantly being shown on their Snapchat account. Marijuana is plastered all over: advertisements to sell weed or invitations to come smoke with people. Whenever parties are being thrown, or smoking sessions are being held, the invite is open to everyone. Invitations include the addresses where the party takes place, and they encourage everyone to come “turn up.”
Another mainstay of pmar_snapsss is the photos of female breasts and videos of people twerking. These videos and pictures are user-submitted, so many will see these incriminating videos and pictures. Many of their account viewers love to see this type of content on the account, mainly because the audience is men. Don’t be surprised to find a short picture or video clip of several students engaging in sexual behavior.
This is the second unofficial Palomar College Snapchat account, as the first one, palomar_snaps, was deactivated. Many Palomar students appear to love this account, based on the amount of students actively participating in submitting their pictures. Many post content asking pmar_snapsss how to be included on their Snapchat story.
The college experience does include partying, having fun, and enjoying life using the motto: YOLO (you only live once). The content on pmar_snapsss embodies all of that lavish, party lifestyle that many see on reality shows and the Instagram pages of celebrities.
The other side of the college experience is nowhere to be seen on pmar_snapsss. There are no students studying, no student events, no positive images of what being a student entails.
If Palomar students are all worried about living life to the fullest, then we should all see the positive aspects on what being a student at Palomar College has to offer to the world.
