
RUTH HERTZ WEBER received her Bachelor of Music degree from San Diego State University and her Master of Music degree from California State University, Northridge (CSUN).
Ruth is an accomplished songwriter whose music has won the New York Pro/Am Songwriting Competition, The Canadian Songwriting Competition, the Jewish American Songwriting Competition, the Music City Song Festival, the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, Global Peace Song Awards and the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, to name a few. Her songs have appeared on CD albums, in film scores and print music, and have been performed by the Nashville, Detroit, Rochester, Virginia, Phoenix and Omaha Symphony orchestras.
As a classical musician Ruth has performed internationally as well as in the U.S. She has worked as an accompanist/coach with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute, Opera Aguascalientes, CSUN, The San Fernando Valley Men’s Choir, as a recording artist with the Marantz Pianocorder Division, as Artistic Director for Jean Will Presents… , and as the Artistic Director/Conductor of the San Diego Jewish Men’s Choir and the Disciple Singers.
Ruth has held the position of Artistic Director/Conductor of the award-winning San Diego Jewish Men’s Choir for the past 14 years. The group released 3 award winning albums under her direction. Their 2nd CD release, KOCHI, A Celebration of the History of the Jews in India, debuted at #3 on the Billboard World Music Charts and received two Global Music Award Medals, and the Akademia Music Award for Best World Beat Album. The group will make their debut at Carnegie Hall in 2026 on their New York tour.
Ruth’s choir, The Disciple Singers, appeared on the Billboard charting album Action Moves People United, where they backed up Dan Aykroyd and Julian Lennon. They also were featured on the soundtrack to the award-winning feature film about disability, One Little Finger.
Ms. Weber and her daughter, Emilia Lopez-Yañez make up the mother/daughter children’s duo Ruth and Emilia. Their albums The Spaceship That Fell in My Backyard and Kokowanda Bay won numerous awards including the prestigious Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) for Children’s Music, The Grand Prize in The John Lennon Songwriting Competition (Children’s Music), A Parent’s Choice Award, A Mom’s Choice Gold Award, The Creative Child Magazine’s Children’s Album of the Year Award, the NAPPA Award, an HIMA for Best Children’s Music, and many more.
Ruth is a music instructor at Palomar College and is a voting Grammy® and SCL member.
