COVID-19 Financial Aid: Here Just in Time for the Holidays

Students can receive up to $1500 in additional aid once they complete the FAFSA financial aid form.

Students can apply for FAFSA for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years to receive this money as well as other grants.

The amount of money awarded to each student is based on how many units they are enrolled in. Students may also receive aid for textbook purchases and other needs.

Amount Awarded Based on Units:

  • .5 to 5.5 units: $500
  • 6-11.5 units: $1,000
  • 12+ units: $1,500

Students can be at risk for losing or having financial aid delayed if any courses were dropped before December of the Fall 2021 semester.

This COVID-19 grant consists of HEERF (Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund) funding, and is in place “… to assist eligible students with costs associated with attending college courses during remote operations and return to campus transitions,” according to Palomar College Officials via the financial aid website.

The checks will be mailed beginning Friday, Dec. 3 and will be sent to the mailing address listed on the student’s eServices account. For textbook and supplies grants, the bookstore will be contacting eligible students via their Palomar email.
