Governing Board Updates Agenda

The Palomar College Governing Board has implemented changes to the college’s policies and procedures with upcoming meetings to resume throughout the end of the year.

According to the minute document, the Governing Board’s teleconference meeting that adjourned Sept. 15 had approved its agenda set forth in the past weeks. The changes discussed in the meeting were set in motion with the hiring subcommittee and Interim Superintendent/President Jack Kahn.

Kahn’s proposal included hiring improvements of employees with $1 million to be allocated in filling vacant positions based on budget and evaluation. This plan is followed by the new Equity, Diversity and Inclusion website for a new subgroup of the Strategic Planning Council to examine what may set back the hiring processes of a diverse faculty.

Changes to Palomar College’s policies and procedures that will affect students, include the Senior Director of Enrollment Services, which will no longer be able to hold grades and transcripts for non-payment. The Faculty Senate also extended the Pass/No Pass and automatic Excused Withdrawal to the end of the term.

The Human Resources Services Planning Council announced talks for changes and modifications to student work eligibility, while the Instructional Planning Council reported the Multicultural Studies Department is suggesting a name change.
