ESL WORKSHOP: How to Write a Persuasive Essay – This workshop is FREE!!! If you are taking an academic writing class, chances are at this point of the semester, you are working on an essay that argues for or against a controversial idea. During this free, hour-long workshop, you will review the necessary sections of such a paper. You will learn and practice the skills you need to articulate the issue, to understand the background information, to decide which side you want to support, to create a thesis statement with controlling ideas, to construct a logical argument, and to offer a convincing refutation of the counterargument. A checklist will be provided as well. – 11am-12pm, H-118 (ESL Computer Lab)
