The Telescope Weekly: Support groups, virtual graduation date, and summer classes

Happy Monday Comets,

It’s the final week of the Spring 2020 semester and there’s quite a few things students should know about.

Virtual Graduation ceremony

For those who were to graduate this semester, Palomar officials announced that a virtual graduation will be held at 5 p.m. on June 19. Graduates who are interested in being a part of this event can sign up and upload a photo of themselves here.

Nursing students support group

Palomar College healthcare officials will be hosting an online support group for Nursing students at 1:30 p.m. on May 19. Officials hope this time can help students discuss their current struggles with the coronavirus pandemic, receive support and learn how to cope with stressors from the new learning environment.

Students who are interested should contact Behavioral Health Counseling Services at (760) 891-7531 to enroll for the group.

Summer and Fall 2020 classes will be held remotely

For those looking to complete more units in the upcoming semesters, the class schedule for Summer 2020 has been listed on the Palomar website.

Summer classes will be held remotely via online and web formats. Some classes include live instruction, so students will have to attend virtual classes on specific days and times.

If students need assistance with an Educational plan, they should contact a counselor to set up an online/Zoom meeting here. Registration for summer classes is open and 4-week courses will begin on May 25.

Students can also begin searching for Fall 2020 courses via the online class catalog here. Most courses are set to be taught remotely in the fall semester.

That’s all from us this week. Good luck with the final week of classes and stay safe out there Comets!
