“Call of Duty: World War 2” is a new first-person shooter video game with an impressive well-balanced multiplayer, a wide range of immersive content, and a cinematic story mode that is a must-buy if you like first-person shooters.
The basic mechanics for the player vs. player multiplayer isn’t all that different from Call Of Duty games before it, in the sense that it’s the same fast kill, fast die, fast re-spawn style that COD players have become accustomed to. Still, “COD:WW2” brings a remastered version that is more polished than its predecessors.
That being said, where the “COD:WW2” multiplayer shines the greatest is its weapon and character customization, the historically accurate wide range of weapons to use in the game, and the all new social experience known as Headquarters.
Headquarters is a very large social space in the game that can hold up to 48 players at once. The area itself is what you would expect a real headquarters during World War 2 to look like. It has a wide range of trenches, bunkers, firing ranges, AA guns, and towers for your character to explore with other players.
The character and weapon customization comes in a revised version of supply drops. How this works is usually after completing 2-3 matches of multiplayer you’ll receive one of these drops. After receiving the drop you can open it in the Headquarters.
The drop will give you three items ranging in rarity. It could be uniforms for your soldier, weapon variants that change the look of your weapon greatly, and even different kind of helmets for your characters. All the gear and variants provide noticeable changes to your characters and weapons to the point that it keeps you immersed into the game.
This Call of Duty created a masterpiece when it comes to the weapons itself. Whether it’s the sound your M1 Garand rifle makes as it ejects the empty magazine, or the sound of bullets whizzing past your head as you play, “COD:WW2” makes sure everything looks and sounds incredible to the point that if you dive into a pile of mud, your weapon and character will visibly be covered in it.
The next Multiplayer experience “COD:WW2” has to offer is its Zombies mode. Prior to its release, Co-founder Glen Schofield said the Zombies mode is a “horrifying experience” that tells the “story of the Third Reich’s desperate attempt to create an army in the final stages of the war.” The complete mode fully lives up to what he said.
The final experience “COD:WW2” has to offer is its campaign or story mode. The story mode is extremely cinematic in the sense you feel like you’re in a movie about World War 2.
The story itself shows the true depth of cruelty, death, and destruction that is World War 2. After finishing each level of the campaign you’ll find yourself extremely interested and yet unsatisfied due to a cliff hanger. This leaves the game extremely hard to put down because (just like a great book) you just have to know what happens next.
