Album Review: Fallujah’s “Undying Light”

FALLUJAH

 UNDYING LIGHT

Album Review By Corey “Craw Daddy” Crawford

Coming in with their 4th album, is California’s own progressive death metal Fallujah. Their album “Undying Light” comes out via Nuclear Blast Records on March 15. Not only is it their 4th album, but it is also their first with new singer Antonio Palermo.

As soon as the opening track, “Glass House” started it reeled me in. And that is probably my favorite track off the album actually. The drumming on it sounds so killer. The drummer, Andrew Baird, is great throughout the whole album. I think that’s what you need as a prog metal band though too, great musicians. I’m not a huge fan on the singing, it’s just not my style. I can respect it though, and Palermo actually sounds really well for what he does. A couple of the songs, especially “Distant and Cold” reminded me of the old Dragon Ball Z videos though, when they used music from Deftones and stuff.

In the end I think the album sounds really well. It was put together great. Just me personally, I’m not too into the singing to much, the music though sounds really good. I’ve just never really been into that type of screaming.
