Album Review: Bergraven’s “Det Framlidna Minnet”

BERGRAVEN

 DET FRAMLIDNA MINNET

Album Review By Corey “Craw Daddy” Crawford

Sweden’s Bergraven are releasing their first album in about ten years, Det Framlidna Minnet. I’ve never heard of them prior to this, but listening to them you definitely get that jazz-inspired progressive black metal feel right away. And I got to say I love it. I’m not 100% sure what he is saying, but the music if amazing. It reminds me a bit of Shining.

The first track is pretty slow, but it’s a great intro into the next song “Allt’, which also starts off slow. It does however, pick up around the 1 minute mark. A lot of transitions and everything throughout the album. I love how eerie the guitar sounds throughout the album and the rhythm sections is amazing. The drums especially, I can just listen to the drumming for hours.

Overall, the album sounds amazing. You ever listen to black metal for hours and feel evil as hell after? That’s how I feel listening to this, but like Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs maybe. An evil genius where there is a method to your madness, that may not be seen right away from the outside. Just the feeling of that though, I’m not trying to eat anyone or anything.
