- I am an Associate Journalism Professor at Palomar College. I was hired full-time in 2007 and awarded tenure in 2011.
- I teach both journalism and communication classes as well as advise the student-run, award-winning newspaper, www.The-Telescope.com and award-winning magazine Impact https://www2.palomar.edu/impactmagazine/.
- I love teaching and am so honored to be a part of Palomar College. The students here inspire me everyday.
- I just wrote my first textbook. It’s online and free to remove barriers for students. It is designed for the introductory journalism class.
- Before I began teaching, I worked as a reporter for The North County Times newspaper (now dissolved) for seven years. I also freelanced for The Chicago Tribune.
- Before that, I wrote and reported for various newspapers in Central California, Washington State, Washington, D.C. and Chicago.
- I earned my master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
- I earned my bachelor’s degree in journalism from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Calif.
- I grew up in Encinitas, Calif.
- I am married with two children.
