Project Details:
In June 2010, Palomar College purchased a 27-acre site in Rancho Bernardo to house a new education center in the southern portion of the Palomar Community College District. The 110,000 square-foot building, with its three-story parking structure, has been designed to better serve residents in the District’s southern communities including Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Rancho Peñasquitos, 4S Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Sabre Springs, Santa Luz, and Del Sur.
Site improvements include completion of a new interior looped road and installation of walkways, landscaping and lighting. The building’s new interior includes a lobby, classrooms for lecture and laboratory, academic offices, spaces for student support services, a bookstore and food services, information services, and a community room. Parking is free for the first year of operation.
The site purchase and improvements were funded with Proposition M general obligation bond funds. This $694 million bond was approved by District voters in November 2006.
Directions and parking:
From 1-15 in Rancho Bernardo, exit on westbound Rancho Bernardo Road. Continue 0.9 miles to the stoplight at Matinal Road. Turn left (south) into the Palomar College South Education Center campus. Follow directions to the parking area.
