ESCONDIDO — The Palomar College Foundation officially welcomed the College’s new Superintendent/President, Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, at an outdoor event at Stone Brewing on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

“It was such an honor to introduce this dynamic new leader to our key community partners and supporters,” said Stacy Rungaitis, Executive Director of the Foundation. “We know that our stakeholders are as thrilled as we are to have Dr. Rivera-Lacey at Palomar.”

The Palomar College Governing Board chose Dr. Rivera-Lacey as the new Superintendent/President in June, following a lengthy national search and recruitment process. Her first day on the job was July 26, 2021.

“I am so grateful to the Foundation for their dedication in supporting the academic success of our students. In collaboration with our faculty, staff and administrators, the work of the Foundation ensures we achieve our mission and vision,” said Dr. Rivera-Lacey.

The welcome event was hosted by Stone Brewing, which held the outdoor mixer at its brewery and restaurant in Escondido, and sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, which Rungaitis said is one of the Palomar College Foundation’s “phenomenal new partners” in the region.
