Hosted by the Palomar College Foundation, the tournament this year features an online auction and five levels of sponsorship.
SAN MARCOS — The annual President’s Invitational Golf Classic, hosted by the Palomar College Foundation, is set to make a comeback at the Maderas Golf Club in Poway on Monday, October 25.
The tournament represents the largest annual fund-raiser for the nonprofit Foundation, and was held virtually as a “no-show” event campaign in 2020 due to COVID-19. Tickets to the 2021 Golf Classic may be purchased online, with five levels of sponsorship for participating players and organizations.
This year, the event is being held in conjunction with an online auction featuring 21 premier items that will be available for bid starting October 14 and ending on the day of the tournament.
“The President’s Invitational Golf Classic is a chance to change a life,” said Palomar College Foundation Executive Director Stacy Rungaitis. “Our supporters have always loved the tournament because it’s a great way to raise funds for a worthy cause while enjoying a day on the course.”
The “scramble” style Golf Classic is usually held in May, but was rescheduled because of concerns over the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting this year’s tournament at the beautiful and challenging Maderas Golf Club, where our guests will have a chance to network with many other supporters of Palomar College,” said Rungaitis. “At the end of the day, this event is about furthering the mission of removing financial barriers for students who are trying to achieve their educational goals and realize their dreams.”
