Details:

U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) will be visiting the new Palomar College South Education Center in Rancho Bernardo – which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs.  Congressman Peters will meet with students and campus leaders, visit a biology class/lab, and take a tour of the facility.    The South Education Center was opened in May 2018 and first offered classes during the summer semester.  Currently, more than 1,200 students are attending nearly 100 classes at the center this fall.

The existing 110,000-square-foot building, with its three-story parking structure, was completely redesigned to better serve resident in the Palomar Community College District’s southern communities including Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Rancho Peñasquitos, 4S Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Sabre Springs, Santa Luz, and Del Sur.

Site improvements to the center included completion of a new interior looped road and installation of walkways, landscaping and lighting. The building interior includes a lobby, classrooms for lecture and laboratory, academic offices, spaces for student support services, a bookstore and food services, information services, a library and teaching and learning center, and a community room.

Parking remains free to students who attend classes at the center during this first year of operation.

Parking:

Parking is available, free of charge, around the campus perimeter and in the parking structure.
