Details:
With the growing number of student parents on college campuses, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and upcoming new CA state legislation AB 2785, faculty and administrators can benefit from learning best practices for supporting students who are pregnant and nursing.
North County’s higher education leaders and educators will gather at Palomar College to receive information immediately relevant to policies, practices, and interactions with students, including syllabus language, legal responsibilities, and best practices for the classroom and administration.
The workshop brings together colleagues from Palomar College, CSU San Marcos, and MiraCosta College for a dynamic panel discussion aimed at faculty, staff, and administrators, as all three institutions work together to improve their lactation support for students and employees.
Friday’s guest speaker is Jessica Lee, a Staff Attorney at the Center for WorkLife Law who works to advance gender equality in educational opportunities and in the workplace, focusing on discrimination faced by pregnant women. The event also features panelists Shana Wright-Bruno from the UCSD Center for Community Health and Kim Speckhahn of the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition and North County Health Services.
NCHEA is a collaborative partnership bringing together leaders and educators from Palomar, MiraCosta, and CSUSM in order to better serve our students and our community.
Parking:
On the day of the event, parking will be available in Lot 12 off Las Posas Road.
