Online Course Delivery
Since 2014 all LIT core course offerings have been offered exclusively online. They appear with the prefix LT in our college  schedules. The 7 courses are only offered during the Fall and Spring semesters, but sequenced in such a way to allow completing our Certificate in a 12 month calendar cycle.

The two required classes outside our department are also available as online offerings. Students can, therefore, readily complete them in the same year as taking the LT courses.

Live / In-Person Learning Opportunities
Based on results of student surveys since 2015 we have scheduled  program-wide  face to face orientations each semester. While these are optional sessions, they are highly recommended for students living in the geographic area. These sessions allow students to engage with their peers and also make a personal connection with Instructors.

In addition, every academic year (typically during the Spring semester) we schedule a field trip to a unique regional library. The field trips include guided tours by librarians and staff as well as access to non-public areas and special resources. The field trips include transportation to the destinations from Palomar and typically last from 4-6 hours. Previous Program field trips have included visits to the:

Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) Los Angeles campus’ Library
Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens (San Marino, CA)
San Diego Global Zoo Library (located at the Zoo’s Safari Park in Escondido, CA)

These learning opportunities are optional and have been documented with photos, short videos and written summaries.
