Most language courses meet General Education requirements. Classes are taught on campus, online, in a hybrid format and via video lectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Degree &amp; Certificate Programs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The department offers &nbsp;an AA-T program in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/spanish-espanol\/\">Spanish<\/a> and AA programs in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/french\/\">French<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/german-deutsch\/\">German<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/italian-italiano\/\">Italian<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/japanese\/\">Japanese<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Advantages<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Beginning and intermediate language classes are transferable to four-year universities and meet General Education requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"career-opportunities\">Career Opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mastery of a foreign language is an invaluable asset in nearly every field, whether in business or in academics. Beyond the immediate practical advantages of foreign-language study, there is also the profound personal enrichment that comes from the first-hand knowledge of other peoples and cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"our-mission\">Our Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mission of the World Languages Department is to provide an engaging teaching and learning environment for students to gain language proficiency in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/arabic\/\">Arabic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/chinese\/\">Chinese<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/french\/\">French<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/german-deutsch\/\">German<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/italian-italiano\/\">Italian<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/japanese\/\">Japanese<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/spanish-espanol\/\">Spanish<\/a>. Emphasis is on the expansion of cross-cultural awareness, as well as the development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in the target language.
