Courses are offered on campus, online, on television and in study abroad trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First semester Spanish<\/strong><br>Span 101&nbsp; Spanish I&nbsp; (5 units)<br>Span 101A&nbsp; Spanish IA&nbsp; (3 units)<br>Span 101B&nbsp; Spanish IB&nbsp; (3 units)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Second semester Spanish<\/strong><br>Span 102&nbsp; Spanish II&nbsp; (5 units)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Third semester Spanish<\/strong><br>Span 201&nbsp; Spanish III&nbsp; (5 units)<br>Span 211 Spanish for Heritage Speakers I&nbsp; (5 units)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fourth semester Spanish<\/strong><br>Span 202&nbsp; Spanish IV&nbsp; (5 units)<br>Span 212 Spanish for Heritage Speakers II&nbsp; (5 units)<br>Span 235&nbsp; Spanish Writing and Conversation&nbsp; (3 units)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Degree and Certificate Program AA-T in Spanish \u2013&nbsp;Course Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the general education courses required, the following five (5) courses in Spanish are required:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022Spanish 101* &nbsp;(5 units)<br>\u2022Spanish 102* &nbsp;(5 units)<br>\u2022Spanish 201 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(5 units) &nbsp; &nbsp;or &nbsp; &nbsp;Spanish 211&nbsp;&nbsp;Spanish for Heritage Speakers&nbsp;(5 units)<br>\u2022Spanish 202 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(5 units) &nbsp; &nbsp;or &nbsp; &nbsp;Spanish 212&nbsp;&nbsp;Spanish for Heritage Speakers&nbsp;(5 units)<br>\u2022Spanish 235 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(3 units)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*For students who have NOT taken Spanish 101 or 102 at Palomar, it may be possible to use Credit by Exam to meet these requirements.&nbsp;Students who have already taken the required courses may apply for the degree beginning in&nbsp;Fall 2016.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/palomar.programmapper.ws\/academics\/programs\/e95e723f-c672-2209-69db-d985f2b335e4\"><strong>AA-T in Spanish<\/strong><\/a> is a degree offered by the college. The \u201cT\u201d indicates that students who receive this degree may use this as a way to help them transfer to a 4-year university. This degree requires majoring in Spanish and completing the other GE unit requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/palomar.programmapper.ws\/academics\/programs\/89b13f46-6fd8-8ffe-3be1-f7d80ed3cea2\"><strong>Certificate of Achievement<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>in Spanish<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;requires only the completion of the five Spanish courses (or accepted substitutions).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many reasons why students should consider receiving an AA-T or Certificate of Achievement in Spanish. &nbsp;If you are interested in the degree or certificate, please meet with your counselor as soon as possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Spanish&nbsp;Program The World Languages Department offers a variety of Spanish courses that can be taken in different formats.&nbsp; Courses are offered on campus, online, on television and in study abroad trips.
