Veterans can use their DD-214 (member 4 copy) for priority registration for up to 15 years of getting out of the service.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><b>How do I receive a Proof of Acceptance or Letter of Intent to attend Palomar College?<\/b><\/summary>\n<p>If you need a \"Proof of Acceptance\" or \"Intent to Attend\" Palomar College, you will need to contact Palomar's Admissions office and submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/enrollmentservices\/proof-of-acceptance-letter-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\"Proof of Acceptance Letter\"<\/a> through their department.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>How do I find out if I am considered an out of state resident? <\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Please contact our Admissions Office at (760) 744-1150 ext. 2164<\/p>\n<p>If out of state resident: Submit\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/enrollmentservices\/residency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Request for Review of Residence Status\u00a0<\/a><\/u>to the Admissions Office.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>How do I know what classes to take? <\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>You should be making regular appointments with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/veterans\/veteran-counselors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Veterans Counselor<\/u><\/a> to keep an updated Education Plan by calling the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/veterans\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VRC<\/a><\/span>. Also, once your official evaluation has been completed, it will be emailed to you and kept on file in the Veterans Office. This evaluation can be used as a tool in determining what classes to take toward your official declared major. You can view your Educational Plan via <em>palomar.edu<\/em> eServices.\u00a0 Here you can find the General Education guide assigned to your major along with your declared major and external major (if you are transferring). Using these you can pull up the\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/articulation\/general-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">General Education<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/catalog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Major, <\/a><\/span>and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/assist.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">External Major<\/a><\/span> associated with your major and fill in the blocks. Read all notes and ensure any previous classes from other schools are applied as well. The VA only pays for classes <strong>REQUIRED\u00a0<\/strong>for each category.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>Do I need to let the VRC know if I add\/drop classes?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes. You are required to inform the VRC if you add or drop classes. Failure to notify the VRC about a drop will result in a debt owed to the VA. Failure to notify the VRC about an add will result in low payments. Fill out an\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/veterans\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/113\/2014\/06\/21-4138-Add-Drop-classes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">add\/drop form<\/a><\/span> at the VRC or email <em>veterans@palomar.edu<\/em> from your Palomar student email stating what classes and semester you are adjusting classes for and your student ID number.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>How much BAH will I receive? <\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>You can verify your benefit amount from the VA\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.benefits.va.gov\/gibill\/resources\/benefits_resources\/rate_tables.asp\">VA Rate Table<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/department-of-veterans-affairs.github.io\/gi-bill-comparison-tool\/\">GI Bill Comparison Tool<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>How long does it take the VA to process payments?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Normally, the VA takes from two to four weeks to pay out any certification that is certificated after the first of the month during peak times. This includes work-study payments. Plan for the delay.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>Will the VA pay for required prerequisites? <\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Yes, the VA WILL PAY for any REQUIRED prerequisites. The VA will not pay for prerequisites for elective classes or some GE courses. Consult with a <u>Veterans Counselor<\/u> to ensure they are paid for.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>Will the VA pay for recommended classes?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>No, the VA DOES NOT PAY for recommended classes.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>How does the VA pay for short sessions?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>For non-standard terms, such as Summer or fast track classes, the units are considered to count more than full standard semester units. Please contact the Veterans Services Office with the start and end dates and number of units so we can calculate the equivalent number of units you\u2019ll be considered for. For example, if you are considered \u00be time (75%) the VA will pay 80% of the full-time BAH rate.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>What happens if I stop attending class?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: red\"><strong>IF YOU DON'T ATTEND CLASS...YOU ARE <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">NOT<\/span> ENTITLED TO BENEFITS <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nAlways remember that the <strong><u>VA pays based on attendance<\/u><\/strong>. If a student stops attending a class, they must drop officially through the Palomar College Admission Office (eServices) or the professor has the right to drop you in accordance with the Palomar attendance policy. Once the class is officially dropped, you need to report the drop to the Veteran's Office via <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/veterans\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/113\/2014\/06\/21-4138-Add-Drop-classes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">add\/drop form<\/a><\/u>. <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">This is a student responsibility<\/span><\/strong>. Federal law requires that students\u2019 report any change in enrollment status, which might affect their VA education benefits to the school and the VA.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center\" width=\"396\"><span style=\"color: red\"><strong>FAILURE TO NOTIFY THE VETERANS OFFICE OF DROPPED COURSES MAY RESULT IN AN OVERPAYMENT AND A DEBT TO THE VA.<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>What is the processing time for my benefits?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>The Veterans Office strives to process all certification requests in under two weeks during peak time periods. Once your certification has been sent electronically to the VA, it depends on their processing times. You may call the VA at 88-442-4551 for a processing time estimate<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>How do I get on to Camp Pendleton if I have classes there?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<div class=\"entry-content\" aria-label=\"page body\">\n<p>If you are taking classes on the base or transporting someone to\/from their class, you will need to request a\u00a0Base Pass in order to access Camp Pendleton. You will not be able to access the base if you do not have sponsorship.<\/p>\n<h4>What do I need to know about Camp Pendleton Access?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>You will be denied access to MCB Camp Pendleton if you meet any of the following disqualifying factors:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any current charge or conviction within the past 10 years of homicide, rape, armed robbery, adult sexual assault, child sexual assault, child pornography, felony drug possession, felony larceny\/theft, human trafficking, arson, extortion, immigration violation.<\/li>\n<li>Engaged in actions or activities designed to overthrow the U.S. Government or a State Government by force.<\/li>\n<li>Identification in the Terrorist Screening Database, known gang member, known supremacist or extremist.<\/li>\n<li>Current arrest warrant, felony conviction within the past 10 years.<\/li>\n<li>Military personnel discharged with bad conduct or dishonorable discharge, persons currently debarred from a military installation.<\/li>\n<li>Criminal arrest information presenting a potential threat to the good order, discipline, health, or safety of persons aboard MCB CAMPPEN.<\/li>\n<li>No valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>How do I apply for a Base Access Pass?<\/h4>\n<p>Please follow the instructions below to obtain\u00a0your Base Pass.\u00a0\u00a0Keep in mind we cannot process\u00a0pass requests more than\u00a025 days\u00a0before the semester begins.\u00a0\u00a0After the request is sent to Palomar, there\u00a0is not\u00a0a follow-up email until we send in the request to\u00a0Base Access.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfgxBdd58cE5lW7ewZj6Z8l4eYuBfuR2sdRb-Wajx8qXG1qJw\/viewform?c=0&amp;w=1\">HERE<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0if you are a Palomar College Student who will need access to Camp Pendleton.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdfX80NaxE5QLXuHSdBCv8_A4kUlmv1kaHKEpoZPFxxBebizA\/viewform?usp=sf_link\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0if you are\u00a0<em>not <\/em>a Palomar College Student and will be providing transportation for a Palomar College Student.<\/li>\n<li>Palomar College Camp Pendleton Center staff will verify and route your request to the Base Education Center. This request\u00a0is sent once a week from our office.<\/li>\n<li>From there, please allow 4 Business Days for your request to be approved by the Camp Pendleton Visitor Center.<\/li>\n<li>After your pass has been requested, processed, and approved in the 4 business days, you will need to pick up your pass at the Visitor\u2019s Center located outside the main gate in Oceanside.\u00a0 You will need to bring the following with you in order to pick up your pass: proof of Driver\u2019s License, Car Registration, and Car Insurance.\u00a0\u00a0<em><strong>Please do not attempt to pick up your pass before the 4-day period.<\/strong><\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>The Visitor\u2019s Center is open Monday through\u00a0 Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. It will take about an hour to obtain your pass, so please plan accordingly.\u00a0 The Visitor\u2019s Center can be reached at (760)763-8435.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>*Passes are only valid for dates enrolled. This process must be completed every Semester\/Fast Track you attend classes on base.\u00a0Please keep in mind that passes that are not picked up within a 25-day period will be expired, and individuals will have to apply for base access again.<\/p>\n<h3>Important Notices, Please Read!<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Driver\u2019s Licenses and Identification cards marked \u201c<strong>not valid for federal purposes<\/strong>\u201c, \u201c<strong>federal limits may apply<\/strong>\u201c, or any other similar language may not be accepted by the Department of Defense for the purpose of un-escorted access (i.e. to obtain a Visitor Pass).<\/li>\n<li>Non-U.S. Citizens who are not Permanent Residents of the U.S. may not be processed via the Sponsored Visitor Program.
