{"id":51,"date":"2015-02-12T19:28:03","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T19:28:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/transfercenter\/?page_id=51"},"modified":"2025-12-09T13:16:22","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T21:16:22","slug":"faqs-for-csu-transfers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/transfercenter\/csu-transfer\/faqs-for-csu-transfers\/","title":{"rendered":"Frequently Asked Questions for CSU Transfers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span class=\"style4\">Can a student apply to a CSU as &#8220;undeclared&#8221; or &#8220;undecided&#8221;?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"style5\"><em>With few exceptions, students are expected to identify a major on their application to a CSU.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"style4\">Are there any guarantee admissions agreements between Palomar College and any of the CSU campuses?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><em><span class=\"style5\">There are no guaranteed admissions between Palomar College and any CSU.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"style4\">What does it mean if a school or major is &#8220;impacted&#8221;?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><em><span class=\"style5\">When a university or major can demonstrate that they usually have more applicants than space, they are allowed to use additional or higher criteria for admissions than the minimums established.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><span class=\"style4\">Is it OK to apply to a non-impacted major and then change to an impacted major once transferred?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><em><span class=\"style5\">No.\u00a0 Students should indicate on the application the major they intend to pursue after transfer.\u00a0 Universities rarely allow transfer students to change from a non-impacted major to an impacted one after acceptance.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"style4\">Do students have to submit official transcripts when they submit their application?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><em><span class=\"style5\">No.\u00a0 Official transcripts are usually due after acceptance and an &#8220;Intent to Enroll&#8221; is submitted.\u00a0 Transcripts should include grades from all college coursework to date, and need to be submitted by the required deadline.\u00a0 Failure to submit transcripts on time may mean the offer of admission will be revoked.\u00a0 Further, official transcripts from each and every school in which college coursework has been <span class=\"style6\">attempted<\/span> must be submitted from the individual schools.\u00a0 If taken, AP and\/or IB test scores are also required.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"style4\">Does it matter if a student has already earned a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in the US or in another country?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><em><span class=\"style5\">Yes.\u00a0 Many CSU campuses do not allow a student to attend for the purposes of earning a second Bachelor&#8217;s degree.\u00a0 Exceptions may be allowed for some high-demand careers, such as nursing or engineering.\u00a0 Check with each CSU for possible exceptions to the second Bachelor&#8217;s degree rule.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"style4\">How will a student be viewed for admission to a CSU if he\/she has attended another college out-of-state?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><em><span class=\"style5\">In order to be considered for preferred California admissions, a student needs to have completed the last two semesters prior to transfer at a California Community College.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"style4\">If a student had one or more semesters at another school before Palomar College, and did not do well, does that student need to report those grades on the CSU application for admission?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><em><span class=\"style5\">Yes.\u00a0 A student <span class=\"style6\">cannot<\/span> omit prior college-level coursework.\u00a0 Failure to report all coursework taken is grounds for an offer of admissions to be rescinded, or for a Bachelor&#8217;s degree earned after transfer to be revoked.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can a student apply to a CSU as &#8220;undeclared&#8221; or &#8220;undecided&#8221;?
