Title IX is a comprehensive federal law enacted in 1972 as part of the Higher Education Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.  Title IX applies to colleges and universities that receive federal financial assistance, including Palomar College.  Title IX states, in part:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Title IX prohibits actual, attempted, or threatened sexual harassment, sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking related to education, employment, and other services provided by Palomar College. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
