Tarde De Familia Has Returned!

SAN MARCOS – On April 29, the Tarde De Familia event will be open to families and students attending Palomar College from 5:30 p.m to 8 p.m at the Student Union, according to the Association of Latinos and Allies for Student Success.

The 3-hour event will be presented in Spanish only, where families can hear Latinx professionals share their experiences and successes to encourage families.

Students and families will need to complete a Cleared4 visitor pass prior to attending the event. Families can scan the QR code on the online flyer to complete a pass.

The Tarde De Familia event will educate families and students about Palomars’ career and transfer pathways. There will be presentations from professionals to speak about their educational successes from a disadvantaged socioeconomic background.

The event originated from Dr. Rodolfo Jacobo, an Associate Professor, and Department Chair for the Ethnic Studies Department. His goal is to expose Latino students to the successes of hardships and the importance of their education in achieving their dreams.

Palomar has made the event free for all visitors. According to the online flyer, there will be food, prizes, and a Mariachi band playing at the event. Latino students and families are strongly encouraged to attend both for current students and incoming students.

For more information, questions, or accommodations, contact Dr. Rodolfo Jacobo, Jr. at rjacobo@palomar.edu or 760-744-1150, extension 2207, or ALASS@palomar.edu.
