Mens Golf

Conference-leading Palomar hosted a six-team PCAC match at Twin Oaks Golf Club on Wednesday. After 18 holes of golf though the Comets found themselves tied for first with College of the Desert. COD defeated the Comets on the day, 389-375. In the head-to-head matchups COD swept all five while Palomar went 4-1. With only two regular-season matches remaining both teams are tied with a 27-3 record this season.

Palomar’s Brian Helmuth and Zack Wagner both shot a team-low 76. Other scores for the Comets were Connor Sims (78), Nick Bellstrom (79), and Mitchell Kwee (80).

Palomar next hits the links on Monday, April 13 as they travel to Desert Island Golf Course in Rancho Mirage for their next PCAC match.

Softball

Palomar’s PCAC-leading softball team picked up their 19th consecutive victory of the season as they handled Mesa College, 5-0.

The Comets took care of the contest early, scoring two runs in the first inning and another three in the second. K.K. Fronda doubled to start off the game and reigning So Cal player of the week Kali Pugh tripled to drive her in. Stephanie Koishor hit her first home-run of the the season while also driving in two runs.

Palomar pitcher Summer Evans registered her 16th win of the season as she threw a masterful 3-hit, complete-game shutout.

Mens Volleyball

Comets volleyball traveled to Golden West College on Wednesday for their PCAC match against the Rustlers. After a five-set battle unfortunately saw Palomar lose their third conference match in a row.

After losing the first set by 10 points Palomar rebounded in the second to win, 25-22. A copy of the first set’s scores put GW up two sets to one before Palomar pulled back even, 25-20, in the fourth. In the fifth and final set Golden West was able to pull away and get the win, 15-11.

For Palomar, Kyle Bass led the team with 18 kills while Eric Reider tallied 16.
