Spring into something sweet and savory, Maple Bacon Popcorn

Bacon lovers will unite for yet another remix of an americana staple. Divulge into staff writer Fern Menezes’ home recipe for Maple Bacon Popcorn; and prepare to enjoy the mouth-watering sensation of sweetness (from the maple syrup) and saltiness (from the bacon and popcorn combination).

1 tsp olive oil
1 lb thick-cut bacon
3/4 cup maple syrup
1 tsp. fresh-ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp bacon drippings (from cooking the bacon)
6 cups popcorn
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add bacon strips and cook until crisp. Remove bacon to a paper towel-lined plate.
Crumble bacon, toss with popcorn, maple syrup, pepper, salt, and drippings.
Spread popcorn mix in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake
for 10 minutes, rotating trays halfway through, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot.
