These outcomes are aligned to course and program learning outcomes and are assessed and analyzed at the institutional level. We refer to these college outcomes as <b>Institutional Learning Outcomes<\/b>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/teachingexcellence\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/140\/2020\/11\/GE-ILO-brief-definitions.pdf\">GE-ILO brief definitions<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative, Critical, and Analytical Thinking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community, Multicultural\/Global Consciousness and Responsibility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The College has two <em>additional<\/em> college outcomes that apply to degrees (AA\/AS\/AT) only: <em>foundational knowledge of the discipline and integrative learning<\/em>.&nbsp; These two outcomes are assessed at the program level.&nbsp; Students earning a Palomar degree are expected to achieve the following set of <b>General Education Learning Outcomes<\/b>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><b>Foundational Knowledge of the Discipline &#8211; <\/b>Apply f<b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">oundational&nbsp;methods of&nbsp;inquiry&nbsp;and analysis of&nbsp;diverse&nbsp;disciplines. A<\/span><\/b>rticulated through GE areas B-D as well as specific certificate\/degree learning outcomes (a.k.a program outcomes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>Integrative Learning<\/b> &#8211; Synthesis and advanced accomplishment across general and specialized studies (e.g. learning communities, service learning, work-based learning, engagement through the arts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course and Program Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All <i>active<\/i> courses &amp; programs practice <i>ongoing assessment.&nbsp;<\/i><strong>Course and program outcomes must be assessed at least once every 3 years<\/strong> in order to align with the College&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/sloresources\/program-review\/\">program review<\/a> cycles.&nbsp;The College&#8217;s&nbsp;goals for assessment of course and program outcomes are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All courses and programs have at least 2 outcomes defined in Nuventive Improve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All active course and program outcomes have completed an assessment cycle (assess, reflect on results, improve) within the past 3 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where applicable, course and program outcomes are aligned to the College Outcomes.
