Gloria Anzald\u00faa, a Chicana feminist, poet, and cultural theorist, described her life\u2019s work as writing with your tongues of fire<\/q> \u2014 a creative act of passion, resistance, and transformation.<\/h2>\n

In Borderlands\/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, Anzald\u00faa writes that her art and scholarship are a blood sacrifice<\/q> that transforms the soul, body, and Earth; an energy of truth-telling, survival, and reclaiming one’s voice.<\/p>\n

This Skillshop invites first-generation college students to reflect on what sets their own soul on fire as they navigate the \u201cborderlands\u201d of higher education \u2014 living between cultures, languages, and identities. Through storytelling, reflection, and guided activities, students will connect their lived experiences to purpose, learn how to self-advocate within academic systems, and build a network of support that keeps their fire alive throughout their college journey.<\/p>\n
