100:<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<p><strong>Based on research on student success in psychology courses and in order to increase the\u00a0likelihood\u00a0that our students are positioned to succeed in their psychology courses, the discipline of psychology enforces all prerequisites.<\/strong>\u00a0 More information about the enforcement process immediately follows the chart of courses and prerequisites.\u00a0<strong>Please be aware that this is a discipline policy and individual faculty may not grant exceptions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The college approved prerequisites for our width=\"221\">Completion of intermediate algebra or the equivalent, or eligibility or completion of PSYC\/SOC 205, BUS 204, or any course between MATH 100 and MATH 245 (excluding MATH 197) based on multiple measures.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"221\">Psychology 210: Physiological Psychology<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"221\">Minimum grade of \u201cC\u201d in PSYC 100<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"221\">Psychology 225: Abnormal Psychology<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"221\">Minimum grade of \u201cC\u201d in PSYC 100<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"221\">Psychology 230: Research Methods in Psychology<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"221\">Minimum grade of \u201cC\u201d in PSYC 100\u00a0<b>AND<\/b>\u00a0PSYC\/SOC 205\u00a0<b>AND<\/b>\u00a0ENG 100<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Prerequisite verification is enforced at the time of registration for these classes. \u00a0You will be blocked from enrollment in these courses unless your computer records indicate successful completion of the prerequisite course work.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"For_All_Courses_with_a_Psyc_100_prerequisite_Psyc_210_Psyc_225_and_Psyc_230\"><\/span>For All Courses with a Psyc 100 prerequisite (Psyc 210, Psyc 225, and Psyc 230):<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You must have completed (with a C or better) an Introductory to Psychology course that is comparable to the Psyc 100 class offered at Palomar College. We will also accept a score of 3 or better on the AP Psychology Test.<\/p>\n<p>Submit your transcript evidence to the Evaluations Office within the Admissions &amp; Records Office. This should be done before attempting to enroll in the course, at least 3 business days prior to your registration appointment date. \u201cPrerequisite Evaluation Request\u201d forms are available in the Evaluations Office, Student Services Center-40 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/evaluationsandrecords\/forms\/evaluations-forms\/#Requisite_Clearance_Request\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">link to the appropriate webpage<\/a>).\u00a0For more\u00a0information, contact the Evaluations Office at 760-744-1150, x2165, or at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:evaluations@palomar.edu\">evaluations@palomar.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you may submit your official\u00a0transcripts from another institution to the Student Records Office, and then meet with a Counselor to submit a \u201cCourse Evaluation Request\u201d\u00a0form to the Evaluations Office.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"For_Psychology_230\"><\/span>For Psychology 230:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Psyc 230 (Research Methods in Psychology) has 3 prerequisites. You must have received a C or better in<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>PSYC 100 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0In addition to an Introductory to Psychology course that is comparable to Palomar\u2019s Psyc 100 class, we will accept a score of 3 or better on the AP Psychology Test.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PSYC 205 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Please note that Psyc\/Soc 205 must have been completed\u00a0<strong>BEFORE<\/strong>\u00a0you take Psyc 230.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ENG 100 \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0To demonstrate you completed English 100, you may have completed any of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>Transcript from Palomar College showing you have passed English 100 with a C or better<\/li>\n<li>Transcript from another college showing you passed the equivalent of English 100 with a C or better<\/li>\n<li>Results of College Board AP Literature and Composition score of 3, 4, or 5<\/li>\n<li>SAT English\/Critical Reading score of 500 or above<\/li>\n<li>ACT English\/Critical Reading score of 22 or above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"To_Demonstrate_Eligibility_for_Psyc_230\"><\/span>To Demonstrate Eligibility for Psyc 230:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you are a new or transfer\u00a0student, it is important that you update your records with the Palomar\u00a0College system. If the challenge is upheld, or the College fails to resolve the challenge within the five business day period, the student shall be allowed to enroll in the course. If no space is available in the course when a challenge is filed,<\/i><i>the challenge shall be resolved prior to the beginning of registration for the next term and, if the challenge is upheld, the student shall be permitted to enroll if space is available when the student registers for that subsequent term.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Questions?
