Support these goals by <a href=\"http:\/\/westernpsych.org\/members-login-or-join\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joining as student affiliate<\/a> and attending their\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/westernpsych.org\/wpa-convention-student-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annual convention<\/a>. \u00a0In the past, students have presented their work from Psy 230 &#8211; Research Methods and competed successfully in student competitions for the quality of their work.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"APA Website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apa.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Psychological Association (APA)<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0The American Psychological Association is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States. APA is the world&#8217;s largest association of psychologists, with nearly 130,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students as its members. \u00a0<a title=\"Student Affiliate membership page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apa.org\/membership\/join\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Student Affiliate memberships<\/a> are inexpensive and provide you will access to great resources and networking opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The APA&#8217;s\u00a0mission is to advance the creation, communication and application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people&#8217;s lives. They\u00a0do this by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encouraging the development and application of psychology in the broadest manner.<\/li>\n<li>Promoting research in psychology, the improvement of research methods and conditions and the application of research findings.<\/li>\n<li>Improving the qualifications and usefulness of psychologists by establishing high standards of ethics, conduct, education and achievement.<\/li>\n<li>Increasing and disseminating psychological knowledge through meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions and publications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"APS Website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.psychologicalscience.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Association for Psychological Science\u00a0(APS)<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0APS is the premiere international organization solely dedicated to the advancement of psychological science. APS works diligently to\u00a0<strong>increase support for psychological research<\/strong>\u00a0and to promote the use of science-based psychology in the\u00a0<strong>development of public policy<\/strong>. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.psychologicalscience.org\/index.php\/members\/student-benefits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benefits of\u00a0Membership<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Neuroscience website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sfn.org\">Society for Neuroscience (SFN)<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0The Society for Neuroscience is the world\u2019s largest organization of scientists and physicians devoted to understanding the brain and nervous system.
