The college provides educational benefits and services to the community and applicable state and federal law supersedes any statement or implication referenced herein. The college is not an insurer of its students or police recruits and accepts no responsibility for injuries or damages resulting from the participation by any student or recruit in the Police Academy training process. No policy, educational requirement, or physical requirement is intended to or in any way obviate or supersede the requirements of State and Federal laws.\u00a0 <\/em><em>Any academy training program is at the discretion and approval of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possession of a high school diploma or GED\/equivalency [GC 1031(e)].<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 20 years of age (NOTE: CA peace officers defined under PC 830.1 must be 21 years of age) [GC 1031.4(a)].<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read, write, and speak English consistent with the duties of a peace officer.<\/li>\n<li>Possess a valid California driver\u2019s license.\u00a0 Active duty military may possess a valid out-of-state driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<li>No felony or misdemeanor convictions in any state or military court that would restrict the possession of a firearm [PC 29800\/29805].\u00a0 Not on current supervision (including summary\/court probation) related to a conviction.<\/li>\n<li>If not already registered as a student at Palomar College, complete a Palomar College student application online (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/\">www.palomar.edu<\/a>) to receive a 9-digit student identification number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Submit a Basic Police Academy application online with\u00a0<u>all<\/u>\u00a0supporting documentation.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon acceptance into the program, recruits are required to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete a Live Scan fingerprint check through the California Department of Justice to obtain a criminal history clearance for firearms eligibility. The Live Scan form will be provided upon acceptance into the Academy.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain a medical clearance by a qualified health provider. You must use the Palomar College Police Academy Medical Clearance Entrance Form and have it signed by a medical provider before the first day of the Academy. This form will be provided after acceptance\u00a0into the program.<\/li>\n<li>Attend the mandatory Police Academy Preparation Course (AJ 85), which begins on Saturday, January 4, 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>The application deadline for Module III\/Full Year is <u>Friday,<\/u><\/strong><u><strong> November 1, 2024 at 11:00 p.m<\/strong>.<\/u><\/span>\u00a0You should collect\u00a0all necessary information and documentation immediately and ensure that you uploaded the required documents with your completed application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Follow the instructions below for submitting your application:<\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Apply to be a student with Palomar College (to obtain a 9-digit Palomar student ID number).<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><strong>Complete this application with complete and accurate information.<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><strong>Obtain the following documents, which\u00a0<u>must<\/u> be uploaded with the application: (A PDF version of documents is preferred. If using a smartphone, please use a scanner app to create the PDF).<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Provide your 9-digit Palomar student ID number &#8211; if you are not yet a student at Palomar, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/policeacademy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/124\/2024\/11\/Palomar-Student-ID-Number-Instructions-Police-Academy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">follow these instructions<\/a> on how to obtain your student ID number<\/li>\n<li>A copy of\u00a0<u>all<\/u> college transcripts, if applicable (unofficial copies\/printouts are acceptable)<\/li>\n<li>A copy of a valid CA Driver\u2019s License (out of state driver&#8217;s license with active duty military ID also accepted).<\/li>\n<li>A copy of your driving record from the CA Department of Motor Vehicles.
