No policy, educational requirement, or physical requirement is intended to or in any way obviate or supersede the requirements of State and Federal laws.&nbsp; Any academy training program is at the discretion and approval of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Possession of a high school diploma or GED [GC 1031 (E)]<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum of 20 years of age (NOTE: You must be 21 years of age to be hired as a peace officer; some exceptions allowed if age 19) [GC 1031 (B)]<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to fluently read, write, and speak English consistent with the duties of a peace officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possess, without restrictions, a valid California driver\u2019s license.&nbsp; Active duty military may possess a valid out-of-state driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No felony or misdemeanor convictions in any state or military court that would restrict possession of a firearm [PC 29800\/29805]<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If not already registered as a student at Palomar College, complete a Palomar College student application online (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/\">www.palomar.edu<\/a>) and receive a student identification number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>Submit a Basic Police Academy application online with <u>all<\/u> supporting documentation<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Testing Process <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicants must <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/policeacademy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/124\/2023\/04\/Autobiography-Instructions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complete an autobiography<\/a> which must be submitted with the Basic Police Academy application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must complete an oral interview with Academy staff, which will be scheduled after submission of the required application and supporting documents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conditions for Acceptance into the Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon acceptance into the program, recruits are required to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete a Live Scan fingerprint check through the California Department of Justice to obtain a criminal history clearance for firearms eligibility. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The Live Scan form will be provided upon acceptance into the program<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obtain a medical clearance from a qualified medical practitioner. You will need to use the Palomar College Police Academy medical clearance form and have it signed by your provider before the first day of the Academy. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">This form will be provided <u>upon<\/u> acceptance into the program.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend the mandatory Academy Preparation Course (AJ 85), which begins on January 2, 2027.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The application deadline for Module III\/Full Academy is Friday, October 30, 2026 at 11:00 p.m.<\/strong> You should collect all necessary information and documentation immediately and ensure that you have uploaded the required documents with your completed application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Follow the instructions below for submitting your application:<em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete this application with thorough and accurate information. Read all directions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are not already a student at Palomar College, register to be a student through the CCCApply process to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/policeacademy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/124\/2024\/11\/Palomar-Student-ID-Number-Instructions-Police-Academy.pdf\">obtain a nine-digit Palomar College Student ID Number<\/a> (this is different than your CCCID number) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Complete an autobiography<\/strong>. Follow the directions\/prompts on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/policeacademy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/124\/2023\/04\/Autobiography-Instructions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Autobiography instructions<\/a>, and upload the completed document with the application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b><strong>Obtain the following documents, which <u>must<\/u> be uploaded with the application:<\/strong> <\/b>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A copy of <u>all<\/u> college transcripts, if applicable (unofficial and online copies\/printouts are acceptable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A copy of your valid driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of your DMV driving record and license status (driving history).
