{"id":49,"date":"2016-06-14T15:53:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-14T22:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/?page_id=49"},"modified":"2023-12-18T13:42:44","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T21:42:44","slug":"domestic-violence","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/domestic-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"Dating\/Domestic Violence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone can be a victim of dating\/domestic violence.\u00a0 Dating\/domestic violence can include verbal, emotional, psychological, physical, and\/or sexual abuse, and can happen in any relationship.\u00a0 If you think you are in an abusive relationship please know there are campus and community resources available to help.<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center\">Get Help<\/h1>\n<h2>Ensure your Safety<\/h2>\n<p>Safety should be your number one priority.\u00a0 If in immediate danger, please call 911.\u00a0 If you cannot, or do not feel comfortable turning to friends or family, resources are available through the:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Palomar College Police Department (PCPD)\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0<strong>760-891-7273<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Student Affairs &#8211; 760-744-1150 Ext. 2594<\/li>\n<li>the Title IX Office &#8211; 760-744-1150 Ext. 2608<\/li>\n<li>Health Services &#8211; 760-744-1150 Ext. 2380<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Seek Medical Attention (if needed)<\/h2>\n<p>Seek medical attention for any injuries you may have sustained.\u00a0 You may receive medical treatment at the Palomar College Health Center, or nearby hospital, urgent care clinics or from your private physician.<\/p>\n<p>Please note:\u00a0 Under California law, any health practitioner employed in a health facility is required to make a report to law enforcement if he\/she provides medical services for a physical condition to a patient\/victim who he\/she knows or reasonably suspects is suffering from any wound or other physical injury inflicted upon a victim where the injury is the result of assaultive or abusive conduct (including sexual violence and relationship violence).\u00a0 This exception does not apply to sexual assault and domestic violence counselors or advocates in addition, you do not have to speak to law enforcement if you do not wish to.<\/p>\n<h2>Seek Emotional Support and Resources<\/h2>\n<p>Follow-up counseling may help you to cope with this difficult time.\u00a0 Free counseling is offered through our behavioral counselors in the Health Center at 760-744-1150 Ext. 2380<\/p>\n<h2>Plan for your Safety<\/h2>\n<p>It is important to plan for your safety whether or not you are ready to leave the relationship.\u00a0 The Women&#8217;s Resource Center can assist you with developing a personalized safety plan, including possible residence relocation, restraining orders, and much more.
