We hope this information guides you on finding connectivity to the services we provide to the campus community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Protection<\/strong>-Palomar College Police Department, PCPD, was created in 2000 to protect the campus community from harm, it is our primary objective.\u00a0 Through 18 hour per day police officer patrols, coverage at our Education Centers and strategic patrols on the San Marcos campus, we protect the campus from known and unknown threats.\u00a0 Through Memorandums of Understanding, we collaborate with the San Diego Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Escondido and San Diego Police Departments on investigations in addition to the consistent sharing of information.\u00a0 We are members of the San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center (<a href=\"https:\/\/sdlecc.org\/(X(1)S(ou31twsr0hg1lwyk43wmawtx))\/default.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1\">SDLECC<\/a>).\u00a0 This is a fusion center with local and federal resources to evaluate threats in educational institutions and other infrastructure communities. We operate systems to inform the campus of emergencies and conduct ongoing physical security, seven days a week through uniformed patrol.\u00a0 Campus Police trains with partner agencies such as San Marcos Fire and California State University San Marcos on active shooter intervention.\u00a0 To increase our proficiency we engage an international SWAT trainer on evolving tactics, training and case studies for best practices.\u00a0 We employ a \u201csingle officer\u201d deployment method to active shooter threats.\u00a0 All of our police officers are certified by California POST and complete proficiency training annually.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2023\/11\/PCPD-Active-Shooter-Drill-2022-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3191 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2023\/11\/PCPD-Active-Shooter-Drill-2022-300x258.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2023\/11\/PCPD-Active-Shooter-Drill-2022-300x258.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2023\/11\/PCPD-Active-Shooter-Drill-2022-1024x880.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2023\/11\/PCPD-Active-Shooter-Drill-2022-768x660.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2023\/11\/PCPD-Active-Shooter-Drill-2022-1536x1320.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/police\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/86\/2023\/11\/PCPD-Active-Shooter-Drill-2022-2048x1761.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Prevention<\/strong>-PCPD uses technology as a force multiplier for protection and prevention.\u00a0 More than 200 cameras are deployed across four campuses.\u00a0 The cameras are recorded and available for monitoring during in progress situations and when local or global issues require the campus to be on alert.\u00a0 We coordinate training with departments throughout campus on creating a safe workplace.\u00a0 We participate in the Student of Concern team to ensure threats to campus are monitored, investigated and the involved parties seek treatment to prevent tragedy.
