The Palomar Black Faculty and Staff Association is proud to present our 5th Annual Black History Month celebration. We are adopting the ASALH theme \u2013 African Americans and <\/em><\/strong>Labor. This theme highlights the profound intersections between the work of Black people and their collective experiences throughout history. From the agricultural labor of enslaved Africans to the vocational training debates among Black educators, self-help entrepreneurship, and organized labor\u2019s fight against injustice, Black labor has been transformative across the U.S., Africa, and the Diaspora. This theme examines work in various forms\u2014forced, compensated, voluntary, and community-driven\u2014and its impact on Black life and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to invite you to participate in our Black History Month Fair on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 (Student Union, San Marcos Campus)<\/strong>, to help usher in a month-long commemoration of Black History Month. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our Palomar College community and share information about your organization, department, or club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, in keeping with the theme, we ask that your booth include information about a significant African American labor leader. You can choose from this list of leaders<\/a>. PBFSA will provide a photo and biography of the leader of your choice for you to display at your booth. If you have a leader you would like to feature who is not on the list, please contact AmberColbert (acolbert@palomar.edu<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More events will be held during the entire month of February!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
