CAST BREAKDOWN
F/M/NB = Female/Male/Non-binary
Agnes (F) – A high school teacher in her mid-to-late 20s: at first pragmatic, cautious, and somewhat disinterested in fantasy or nerd culture, she becomes more adventurous, empathetic, and connected to her own emotions and those around her as the play progresses.
Tilly (F/NB) – Agnes’s younger sister, a high school student, a self-proclaimed nerd, passionate about fantasy games: vivid imagination, heroic, and complex figure whose struggles with her identity and sexuality.
Chuck (M/NB) – a high school student and Dungeon Master who introduces Agnes to the world of Dungeons & Dragons: quirky, enthusiastic, and somewhat socially awkward.
Miles (M) – Agnes’s boyfriend: well-meaning and caring but struggling to understand Agnes’s newfound obsession.
Lilith (F/NB) – a fierce Demon Queen and a member of Tilly’s adventuring party: strong, confident, and loyal. ALSO, a student who shared a close, possibly romantic, relationship with Tilly.
Orcus / Ronnie (M/F/NB) – a lazy, somewhat comical demon who used to be a fearsome Overlord but now prefers to lounge around watching TV. ALSO, another student who knew Tilly.
Kaliope / Kelly (F/NB) – an athletic Dark Elf and an expert tracker in the game, part of Tilly’s party: graceful, skilled, and speaks in an archaic, formal manner. ALSO, a student with a physical disability.
Vera (F) – Agnes’s best friend and colleague, a high school guidance counselor: pragmatic, straightforward, and often the voice of reason in Agnes’s life.
Steve (M/NB) – a recurring character in Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons game, often meeting unfortunate and humorous deaths.
Evil Tina / Evil Gabbi (F/M/NB) – Two evil high school cheerleaders who are equally evil in real life
Farrah the Faerie (F/M/NB) – One of the bosses in Tilly’s D&D game who appears delicate and lovely, but is surprisingly violent and deadly
Narrator (F/M/NB) – Existing as both a physical presence and a voice-over, this enchanter sounds eerily like Cate Blanchett from Lord of the Rings.
Several actors cast above will also portray goblins, monsters, bugbears, and the dragon Tiamat.
