Welcome to Anth 100! Thank you for your interest in this face-to-face course. Below is general information about the course.

Catalog Description

This is a survey course designed to introduce students to the concepts and principles of genetics and inheritance, evolutionary theory, primate characteristics and behavior, the evolution of primates (mainly humans) through the fossil record, and human diversity and adaptability.

Catalog and SLO information  This course satisfies Area 5B – Biological Sciences for IGETC CSU/UC.  Students should be aware that a free field trip to the San Diego Zoo to observe non-human primates may occur.  An alternate activity will be provided for those who cannot go to the zoo.

Text Requirements

Correction: I will be using the free online textbook – Explorations: An Open Invitation to Biological Anthropology, 2nd edition. It is available to view and download at https://pressbooks.calstate.edu/explorationsbioanth2/.

Class Meetings

We will be meeting in the MD building, room 124 (first floor).  Section #30140 meets Tuesday/Thursday 9:35 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and section #30141 meets Tuesday/Thursday 11:10 a.m. to 12:35 p.m.  The first day of class is Tuesday, January 30.
