Admission to our generic RN program is based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2025\/10\/Multi-Criteria-Sheet_rev10.2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Palomar College Admission Multi-Criteria Points<\/a> screening tool and random selection (more on this admission process below). We do not keep a waiting list of students. We do encourage you to reapply, should you not be initially admitted to the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"color: #800000;font-size: 16pt\">GENERIC RN APPLICATION DATES<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>UPDATED TEAS7 RETAKE POLICY:  The best score from the first TWO successful attempts (62% or higher) of  TEAS version 7 will be used to award points. The second successful attempt should be at least 30 days from the first successful attempt. Sign up for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/how-to-apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Palomar student ID number<\/a>.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2025\/10\/Nursing-Application-Checklist_rev10.2025.pdf\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2023\/07\/Nursing-Application-Checklist_070523.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Application Checklist<\/a> to confirm you have all your documents ready for uploading<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A copy of your high school diploma, GED, CHSPE, <strong>OR<\/strong> the highest level of US degree awarded (Associate, Bachelor&#8217;s, or Master&#8217;s in any subject)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>All <\/strong>unofficial transcripts of coursework (including those from Palomar College)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>All<\/strong> unofficial copies of TEAS 7 attempts <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting documentation for any points attempting to be received for any other category<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Fill out and complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/generic-rn-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Online Generic RN Application<\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure that all your documents are in PDF format and named correctly for an easy and quick application experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will receive a confirmation email once submitted.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you need to step away and complete your application at another time, you will receive a special link to resume your application. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The application link will open on the first day of the application period at 12:01 AM and closes at 11:59 PM on the last day of the application period.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you need to resubmit a new application, the most recent submission will be used for review. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Information Before Applying<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Admission Process<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We will have two admit pools. We will accept 26 students from the points system based on the highest points, and 10 students will be chosen by random selection from a pool of students who have 70 points or higher.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If one of the points-selected students declines their seat, then we will replace that person with the next highest points-selected student.&nbsp; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If one of the randomly-selected students declines, then they will be replaced by another randomly-selected student.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No late applications will be accepted<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>We do not keep transcripts or applications on file<\/strong>. All application documents are shredded after the completion of the selection process.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you are reapplying, you will need to resubmit your application and supporting documents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The application process takes several weeks to complete.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once accepted applicants are selected, we notify them in groups. Not all applicants are notified at one time.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All notifications are sent to the email address provided on the application. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Every applicant will receive a notification of their admission decision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We do not require a background check or proof of immunizations until <strong>after<\/strong> acceptance into the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transcripts<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for the application process. Make sure all pages are included.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If accepted to the program, official transcripts will be required at that time. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you attended Palomar College, we will need to submit a copy of these transcripts as well. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Required Courses:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/prerequisite-coursework\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/prerequisite-coursework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">All required courses<\/a> must be <strong>completed<\/strong> and have a grade issued; otherwise we cannot calculate your GPA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No grade lower than a &#8220;C&#8221; will be accepted for all required courses, general education, and nursing, for the associate&#8217;s degree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are using AP scores to clear a GE requirement, please submit a copy of the score report. We will not accept college transcripts that show AP scores as credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ATI TEAS exams:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All copies of the attempted TEAS Version 7 exams must be submitted, including non-passing scores.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can print free copies directly from your account on the ATI website. TEAS Individual Performance Profile transcript is preferred when submitting your application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The TEAS Version 7 was implemented on June 3, 2022. We will only accept TEAS Version 7 for the Spring 2024 application period and moving forward.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Starting January 2027 for the Fall 2027 application, only IN-PERSON TEAS7 exam scores will be accepted and used in the calculation of points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/teas-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">THIS PAGE<\/a> for more details on the TEAS 7 Retake Policy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Work\/Volunteer Experience<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Multiple experiences may be used to get to the 100-hour minimum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hours must be stated on the verification document submitted. Please note that the accepted points vary semester to semester, based on the applicant pool and on the number of students who accept a seat. It is recommended that students apply to multiple programs in the area.
