{"id":123,"date":"2013-09-20T22:07:16","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T22:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/?page_id=123"},"modified":"2025-10-02T15:48:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T22:48:12","slug":"teas-requirement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/teas-requirement\/","title":{"rendered":"TEAS = TEST OF ESSENTIAL ACADEMIC SKILLS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">The TEAS exam is designed specifically to assess a student&#8217;s preparedness for entering the health science fields.&nbsp; Studies show a consistent link between a student\u2019s performance on the TEAS and future academic success.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif;font-size: 12pt\">The Chancellor\u2019s Office has recommended that the TEAS be utilized as a pre-admission test for prospective nursing students, with a required minimum score of 62%. The TEAS provides a&nbsp;diagnostic assessment of a person\u2019s knowledge of Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif;font-size: 12pt\">All students applying to Palomar College Nursing Education are required to take the ATI TEAS&nbsp;exam and <strong>submit proof of all prior attempts with their application<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">The current TEAS exam is version 7. This was implemented last June 2022. Beginning Spring 2024 term application, we will only accept the TEAS Version 7.&nbsp;<\/span> <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia,palatino,serif;font-size: 12pt\">To prepare for the TEAS exam, consider utilizing <span style=\"color: #bf0b0b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/nursing\/teas-v-exam\/\">ATI\u2019s SMARTPREP FOR TEAS<\/a>.<\/span><br><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\">PALOMAR COLLEGE TEAS REQUIREMENT<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">For a second&nbsp;TEAS&nbsp;Exam&nbsp;attempt to be&nbsp;valid, the following guidelines apply:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"font-size:16px\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">If unsuccessful on the first attempt, complete remediation after waiting <strong>30 days<\/strong>, and then retest.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">If successful the first time (62% or higher), but you want a higher score, you must wait <strong>30 days<\/strong> from the first attempt. The best score from the first two successful attempts of the current TEAS version will be used to award points.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif\">If the first attempt was <strong>TEAS Version 6<\/strong>, but you want a higher score, you may take <strong>TEAS Version 7<\/strong>.
