{"id":9072,"date":"2025-01-23T18:44:03","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T02:44:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/?p=9072"},"modified":"2025-07-28T12:39:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T19:39:24","slug":"palomar-college-celebrates-grand-opening-of-softball-stadium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/palomar-college-celebrates-grand-opening-of-softball-stadium\/","title":{"rendered":"Palomar College Celebrates Grand Opening of Softball Stadium"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong>SAN MARCOS<\/strong>,<strong> CA \u2013 <\/strong>Palomar College celebrated the grand opening of its new softball stadium on Wednesday, January 22.\u00a0 The stadium is home to one of the highest achieving athletic teams in Palomar College history.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>During the ceremony, Athletic Director Dan Lynds commended the softball program.\u00a0 \u201cWith five State Championships, 39 conference championships, statewide team academic awards, 57 All-American Athletes, and countless 4-year college transfers have cemented Palomar Softball\u2019s place as one of the states truly great athletic programs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, Superintendent\/President of the Palomar Community College District, presided over the opening ceremony.\u00a0 \u201cToday is the result of countless hours of planning and the dedication of a long list of incredibly talented people,\u201d she stated. \u00a0\u201cClearly this softball stadium has been a labor of love and pride.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The season opening game will be played on Saturday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m.\u00a0 The new softball venue is located at the college\u2019s main campus in San Marcos, 1140 West Mission Road.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Media interested in attending the game should contact Julie Lanthier Bandy, Public Information Officer in advance to secure access. \u00a0She is available at 619-895-9297.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SAN MARCOS, CA \u2013 Palomar College celebrated the grand opening of its new softball stadium on Wednesday, January 22.\u00a0 The stadium is home to one of the highest achieving athletic teams in Palomar College history.
