Palomar College purchased a 27-acre property in June 2010 to house a new education center in the southern portion of the District. The site includes a 110,000 square-foot building, as well as a three-story parking structure. Planned site improvements include completion of a new interior looped road and installation of walkways, landscaping and lighting. On the building interior, plans include a lobby, classrooms for lecture and laboratory, academic division offices, spaces for student support services, a bookstore and food services, information services, plus a community room.<\/p>\n
The site purchase and improvements are being funded with Proposition M general obligation bond funds. This $694 million bond was approved by District voters in November 2006.<\/p>\n
Classes are scheduled to be offered at the South Education Center starting in summer 2018.<\/p>\n
