SAN MARCOS, CA \u2013 The Palomar College Foundation kicks off this year\u2019s Giving Tuesday campaign announcing that every dollar raised will be matched by a group of anonymous donors. Giving Tuesday at Palomar is scheduled for November 29.<\/p>\n

Celebrated in the U.S. on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is described on www.givingTuesday.org as \u201cA Global Day of Giving.\u201d Associated with the \u201cthe widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday\u2026#GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.\u201d Last year an estimated $116 million was raised by a wide variety of nonprofit organizations\u2014more than double the prior year\u2019s total.<\/p>\n

At Palomar College, funds donated to the Foundation on Giving Tuesday help provide scholarships, textbook assistance, and support for many special programs. \u201cThese generous donations have a large and immediate impact on the lives of many students,\u201d said Kim Hartwell, who oversees the Foundation\u2019s scholarship program.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to the generosity of our donors, we have the opportunity to make a big impact with this year\u2019s event. With every dollar being matched, a $50 donation becomes $100! This is a wonderful way to help students gain access to success through education while also benefitting North County communities,\u201d said Rich Talmo, Executive Director, Palomar College Foundation.<\/p>\n
