Palomar College is contributing to the betterment of the community through several giving opportunities in the month of November.\u00a0 Two of the campaigns are designed to reduce the impact of food insecurity on Palomar College students and the third is centered around Giving Tuesday on November 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The California Coast Credit Union, in collaboration with Palomar and nine other community colleges in San Diego and Imperial counties, is partnering with the San Diego Food Bank, and the North County Food Bank to raise funds and fill local college food pantries and nutrition centers with healthy food.  The Anita and Stan Maag Food and Nutrition Center at the Palomar College San Marcos campus will benefit directly from this campaign.  Donations are being accepted November 1 through November 30.  Those interested in contributing to the campaign can visit the Palomar College Pack the Pantry webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recognition of Veterans Day, the Palomar College Council of Classified Employees, Palomar Faculty Federation, and the Palomar College Associated Student Government are collecting non-perishable food and basic need items.  The items will be distributed to the Veterans Resource Center and the Anita and Stan Maag Food and Nutrition Center at the main campus.  Collection boxes will be available at the main campus in San Marcos, on November 6 through November 8 in the Student Services Center and in room MD-155. On the final day, November 9, collections stations will be set up at the Student Union from 11:30 a.m. \u2013 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual Giving Tuesday fundraiser hosted by the Palomar College Foundation on November 28 is an annual opportunity for members of the community to give back and support higher education. Donations are accepted throughout the month leading up to the official day of giving.  Donors can support the campaign by making their contribution at the Giving Tuesday webpage<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery year, it\u2019s exciting and humbling to see people come together for our students, and we are grateful to those who are making an important impact in the lives of students,\u201d said Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, Superintendent\/President of Palomar College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funds raised on Giving Tuesday will support the Foundation\u2019s core programs\u2014scholarships, textbook assistance, and emergency grants\u2014all of which serve the Foundation\u2019s mission to remove financial barriers to education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThrough the generosity of our donors, the Palomar College Foundation makes the difference for thousands of our students every year, who need that extra support to stay in school and pursue their goals,\u201d said Stacy Rungaitis, Foundation Executive Director. \u201cThe students who receive this support are future health care workers, scholars, welders, scientists, and more. This day of giving is critical to help our students on their educational journey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage giving and celebrate generosity worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
