SAN MARCOS \u2014 For the third year, educators and students from Palomar College and around the country are exploring the history and creativity of Black History Month with a series of workshops available on Zoom and in person at the College\u2019s San Marcos campus.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cTo be able to offer this many workshops and have this much collaboration is just monumental,\u201d said Amber Colbert, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Founder of the Palomar Black Faculty and Staff Association (PBFSA), which is hosting the events.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a way to expose everyone, regardless of race, to the history of Black America that has led us to today\u2014and to issues happening right now,\u201d said Colbert. \u201cIt\u2019s America\u2019s history, it\u2019s Black history, and I\u2019m glad that Palomar and the PBFSA are able to provide these workshops.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cIt is inspiring to see so many dedicated and talented educators coming together to provide our students and community with inspiring, informative Black History workshops,\u201d said Palomar\u2019s Superintendent\/President, Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey. \u201cWe encourage everyone to join us in learning and imagining a stronger, more inclusive future.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The series will conclude with a barbecue and fund-raiser at Mesa Rim Climbing Center in San Marcos.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
