{"id":4873,"date":"2022-04-08T09:40:01","date_gmt":"2022-04-08T16:40:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/?p=4873"},"modified":"2025-07-15T13:33:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T20:33:07","slug":"five-new-directors-named-to-palomar-college-foundation-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/five-new-directors-named-to-palomar-college-foundation-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Five New Directors Named to Palomar College Foundation Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SAN MARCOS \u2014 The Palomar College Foundation added five new members to its Board of Directors, furthering the wealth of business, organizational and community leadership represented on the board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The new members are <\/span><b>Katie Johanski<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of Hunter Industries; <\/span><b>Tana Lorah<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of ClayCo; <\/span><b>Richard Marks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of RDM Management Group; <\/span><b>Susan Miller<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of Oracle; and <\/span><b>Christine Spielmaker<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of EDCO.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are delighted to add these five community members to our already talented Board of Directors,\u201d said the Foundation\u2019s Executive Director, Stacy Rungaitis. \u201cWe have worked to strategically build the board with leaders who represent industry and communities throughout the District. Our new members are already fully engaged by donating their time, talent and treasure to our mission to remove financial barriers for Palomar College students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Superintendent\/President of Palomar College, Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, welcomed the new board members and thanked them for their willingness to serve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur Foundation does fantastic work to further access to higher education in our region, and we are thrilled to have the support and participation of such dedicated board members,\u201d said Dr. Rivera-Lacey.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Katie Johanski<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4866 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/katie-211x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Director of Global Risk, Hunter Industries<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Originally from Wisconsin, Johanski\u2019s expertise is in safety, industrial hygiene, commercial insurance and enterprise risk management. She has previously worked for Thermo Fisher Scientific and holds an M.S. in Environmental Health Sciences from UCLA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Johanski is married with three children attending schools in the San Marcos Unified School District.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4869 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/Tana-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/Tana-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/Tana.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>Tana Lorah<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vice President and Public Affairs Strategist, ClayCo<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a Public Affairs professional, Lorah has extensive expertise in government relations, community engagement and communications strategy. She spent 11 years with Kaiser Permanente and has successfully supported projects at the local, state and federal level.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Richard Marks<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4867 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/Richard-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Founder\/President, RDM Management Group<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the Founder of the RDM Management Group, Marks helps organizations train their teams in a variety of areas, including leadership, business sales, management, customer service, diversity and inclusion, and workforce assessments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He is an Army veteran and established author.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4868\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/Susan-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Susan Miller<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Senior Director, Global Product Security, Technical Oversight &amp; Reporting<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Throughout her career with Oracle, Miller has served in a number of senior leadership roles. She has more than 30 years of experience in the Information Technology industry and has served on a variety of local and regional boards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Miller has lived in San Diego County since 1999.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Christine Spielmaker<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-4865\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/50\/2022\/04\/Christine-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Director of Market Development, EDCO<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Spielmaker joined EDCO in 1991 and as a Certified Practitioner in Zero Waste principles and practices will lead the effort to implement and expand commercial organics recycling programs in North County.
