SAN MARCOS, CA \u2013 With award season upon us, Palomar College Television (PCTV) and the digital broadcast arts program have again made an impressive showing in local and national competitions.<\/p>\n

PCTV\u2019s Emmy-Award-winning documentary Breaking Point<\/em>, produced by Bill Wisneski, was named Best Documentary Feature At the Borrego Springs Film Festival in January and also received the Award of Excellence Special Mention: Documentary Feature from Impact Awards. In addition, Palomar\u2019s radio station, KKSM received several nominations in the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System\u2019s (IBS) national competition.<\/p>\n

Wisneski said, \u201cBreaking Point<\/em> chronicles the rapidly shrinking Salton Sea, the largest lake in California and an ecological basin for migratory birds on the Pacific Flyway.\u00a0 If nothing is done to mitigate the receding Sea, toxic dust storms may threaten the health of millions of people in Southern California.\u201d Learn more about the Breaking Point documentary.<\/a><\/p>\n

KKSM radio received the following nominations for the annual IBS awards: Best Newscast \u2013 Steven Garcea; Best Public Service Announcement \u2013 Dylan Hanks for Digital Broadcast Arts at Palomar College<\/em>; Best Program Director \u2013 Serena Reid; and Best Adviser \u2013 Zeb Navarro. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in New York City on Saturday March 5.<\/p>\n

Palomar\u2019s Manager, ETV and KKSM Radio Operations Jim Odom said, \u201cIt\u2019s a pleasure to work with such a wonderful and talented group of staff and students and to see them continually recognized for the quality of their work.\u201d<\/p>\n
