Starting this fall, San Diego State University will offer two online bachelor degree programs, based at the Palomar College Rancho Bernardo Education Center.<\/p>\n
RANCHO BERNARDO \u2014 As soon as August 2021, San Diego State University (SDSU) will begin offering two bachelor degree programs from the Palomar College Rancho Bernardo Education Center, after both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December certifying the plan.<\/p>\n
As a \u201cmicrosite campus,\u201d Palomar\u2019s southern location will provide two offices for student support, but the programs\u2014in Criminal Justice and Communication\u2014will be conducted entirely online.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very excited about this partnership with San Diego State, and we look forward to serving students looking to earn their bachelor\u2019s degree without commuting all the way to San Diego,\u201d said Palomar College Interim Superintendent\/President Dr. Jack Kahn.<\/p>\n
Tom Medel, Director of the Rancho Bernardo Education Center, said that the programs are designed for non-traditional students who may be working full-time.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen students get accepted into this program, they will get the classes they need, and be able to complete their degree from SDSU in two or two-and-a-half years,\u201d said Medel.<\/p>\n
Once COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed and it is safe to re-open the Center, the SDSU students enrolled in the program will have access to the Library\/TLC in Rancho Bernardo and a student support specialist, and instructional support assistant to assist students in person.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are committed to helping our students achieve their learning outcomes, and the microsite at the Rancho Bernardo Education Center, is just one example of the many ways we are able to support our students,\u201d said Dr. Kahn.<\/p>\n
Once the first two degrees are available, there may be opportunities to add other programs, depending on student demand. Medel said Palomar College plans to offer lower-division requirements that lead straight into the bachelor degree programs, so that Palomar students can transition seamlessly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
