The Hispanic Outlook on Education<\/em> names Palomar among the \u201cTop 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics\u201d nationwide, in terms of enrollment and degrees earned by Latinx students.<\/p>\n

SAN MARCOS \u2014 Palomar College was named one of the \u201cTop 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics\u201d in the U.S. and was featured in the Oct. 12, 2020 edition of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education<\/em>, the magazine announced.<\/p>\n

The rankings place Palomar 20th in overall Latinx enrollment for the 2018-19 school year, and 42nd in total associate degrees conferred on Latinx students in 2019. The rankings were based on data provided in U.S. Department of Education surveys.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a Hispanic Serving Institution, Palomar has long been known as a welcoming and empowering place for Latinx students,\u201d said Interim Superintendent\/President Dr. Jack Kahn. \u201cWe are grateful for this recognition, and grateful to the students who contribute to the wonderful diversity of our campus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kahn added: \u201cThese figures also remind us that we still have much work to do. Our faculty and staff remain committed to removing barriers and supporting Latinx students in meeting their educational goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hispanic Outlook<\/em> said in an announcement that the Top 100 list is a means of charting \u201cthe national progress of Hispanics in higher education and to recognize the institutions that are committed to serving Hispanics’ educational needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also known as HO<\/em>, the journal\u2019s website describes it as a \u201cnational monthly magazine that provides education news, innovations, networking, resources and the latest trends impacting students from kindergarten through graduate school all while maintaining a unique Hispanic perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
