Palomar College scholarship recipient\u00a0Maxine Lagrimas<\/h2>\n

The Palomar College Foundation promises to raise some \u201cserious\u201d funds this year on Giving Tuesday, a world-wide, annual event that is based on philanthropy and the celebration of generosity toward others. This year\u2019s Giving Tuesday event will take place on December 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, thanks to an anonymous donor, every dollar of Giving Tuesday gifts will be matched. A $50 donation becomes $100! It’s a wonderful opportunity to help students gain access to success through education while also benefitting North County communities,\u201d said Kim Hartwell, who oversees the foundation’s scholarship program.<\/p>\n

Hartwell said that funds donated to the Palomar College Foundation on Giving Tuesday help provide scholarships, textbook assistance, and support for many special programs. \u201cThese generous donations have a large and immediate impact on the lives of many students,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Last year an estimated $46 million was raised on Giving Tuesday by a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in the U.S.<\/p>\n
